After a long winter away from the racetracks, Andrea Piccini was back on track. Thursday February 14, in fact, the 34 year old driver from Sansepolcro – winner of the 2012 24 Hours of Spa – was called by BMW Motorsport to carry out a test session at the spanish track of Jerez de la Frontera, during the official pre-season testing session of the prestigious german brand. Andrea spent the whole afternoon at the wheel of the BMW Z4 GT3, first to familiarize with the new car and then to focus on the development and testing of tires. "The day was definitely positive – said Andrea – as I quickly adapted to the car, although the Z4 is very different from the Audi R8 I drove last year: the most weight on the front, due to the positioning of the engine, makes the Z4 a bit more understeer and at the same time less nervous and easier to drive. Difficult to make a direct comparison, because the last time I drove in Jerez was in 2003 at the wheel of a Ferrari 550 Maranello GT1, but the potential of the car seems very good." Satisfaction, therefore, accompanied by a wish: "I am very glad of the opportunity that was given to me and I hope to join the team BMW for the season which is now about to start."
