After three years off and after the second place overall with the official BMW Z4 in 2013, Andrea Piccini returns to Nordschleife for the Nürburgring 24 Hours, this time at the wheel of the Glickenhaus SCG003C team with Thomas Mutsch, Felipe Laser and Franck Mallieux.
The car deployed by Traum Motorsport as well as entirely designed and built in Italy at MAT Automobili in Turin has shown in the last races its great performance to fight for the win; the main opponents will be the germans GT3 like Audi, Mercedes, BMW and Porsche.
As always, the race will see over 180 cars along the legendary 25 km of the Nurburgring track, splitted in several classes. Traffic will be one of the main issue, along with the extremely variable weather and high speeds over 200 km/h.
Andrea Piccini: “I thank the team for offering me the opportunity to return to the Nurburgring 24 Hours after three years off, specially on such beautiful and competitive car. The target is to be able to pick up a result that can repay everyone for so much work and for the great profound commitment. I love this race from the moment I discovered it: it’s an incredible track that you can not afford without experience. The average speeds are very high and behind every corner you can find a problem. Every lap you have to overcome a lot of slower cars, trying to lose less time as possible, of course without any damage and, in the same time, fighting with your class cars. As with every 24 Hours, the reliability will be crucial; we will have to avoid any mistakes pushing on the limit.”
The race will start on Saturday, May 27 at 3:30 pm, while free practice is scheduled on Thursday, which will be followed by the first qualifying in the night; The second qualifying session is expected on Friday.
