The german track of Nurburgring saw the the last act of 2016 Blancpain Endurance Cup, a season full of competitive spirit that has seen protagonists – among over 50 GT3 always present at the start – also Michele Beretta and Andrea Piccini. The two 4Motorsport drivers, who shared the cockpit of Lamborghini Huracan GT3 #19 with Luca Stolz, end the season with an excellent sixth place in today’s race, after the pole position got this morning. Only a “Full Course Yellow” neutralization has deprived the Grasser Racing trio of a better result, but both team and drivers were happy about the result.
Michele Beretta: “It was a good race, not easy at all, where we had to push hard from start to finish. We knew that the podium would be hard to catch but we tried to fight till the chequered flag and we are happy for the sixth place, which is our best result of the season. Andrea and Luca did a great job as always as well as the team, we just have to replicate with another top result in the Sprint series in Barcelona and take home the Silver Cup title.”
Andrea Piccini: “We end the season with the best result so far and this is undoubtedly positive. We lost important points in Monza, at Paul Ricard and also in Spa. This morning we got the pole position but we were quite far to have the right pace in order to fight for the win. We have loose some time during the race, first with the initial safety car and then with the “full course yellow”. In the final hour I found Marc Basseng on my way, that slowed me down a long time; this allowed me to get to the Ferrari ahead of us only in the last two laps, I could get another place with one or two more laps.“
